A few weeks ago the benefits of Panic Rooms / Safe Rooms were detailed, let’s follow this up with the benefits of SOS for the Gen I Galaxy Gear.
Samsung and your carrier rarely advertise this feature, however, this remarkable feature may come in handy one day. For those who own a Galaxy Gear, browse to “Safety Assistance” and the options are as follows. For those that do not, have a look at the gallery at the bottom of this article and reference these notes.
Perform setup as such:
- Launch Gear Manager
- Select “Settings”
- Select “Safety assistance”
- Turn on Help Messages via “Send help messages” On / Off at top of the screen
- Enable Emergency Pictures via “Send emergency picture” second from bottom of the screen (tick box)
- Select Emergency Contacts from those stored in your device via “Emergency contacts” at bottom of the screen
Testing and using the emergency feature is simple and straightforward. When in trouble press the power key three times and your device will text and email your emergency contacts, deliver an image from the camera, and deliver a Google Map to the location of your watch within three meters at the time of emergency.
Many are completely unaware of this feature, keep in mind, it could save a life one day.
