Villazzo VillaHotels is one component of Villazzo, the boutique villa company well-known in the US and Europe, partly because it is one of the most expensive, and luxurious, and also because it is modeled on a unique hybrid, combining the boutique hotel and villa models into one. The Villazzo VillaHotel serves celebrities and their entourages, diplomats and their families and extended families, and the like. According to President and CEO Christian Jagodzinski, those who also use Villazzo VillaHotel services are large families, or smaller families who plan multi-family reunions.

The Villazzo VillaHotel are large villas, with multiple bedrooms, ususally also with game rooms, workout facilities, pools, home theatre rooms, with boutique hotel staffs to serve the needs of each Villa guest. The VillaHotel staff includes a resort manager, personal butler, a bellboy, chefs and servers, bartenders, child care specialists and masseuses. None of the staff actually sleeps at the property; so guests have complete privacy.

Miami and Saint Tropez, are two high end destinations where Villazzo VillaHotels can be experienced, and recently Aspen, Colorado has been added to the list. Last month, Villazzo opened three new Villazzo VillaHotels, as well as an office to serve clients and their needs in a personal, high-touch way. There are three new VillaHotels, listed below. More images of the three VillaHotels are on page two of this post.

The first is VillaHotel Natasha, pictured above.

Located just 10 minutes from Aspen, the 11,000 square foot VillaHotel Natasha offers a private luxury ski resort, in a mountain contemporary style. It is a 5 bedroom, 8 bathroom lodge-inspired Aspen luxury villa, featuring a large heated deck on the second level accessible to all of the bedrooms and looks out onto the 4.5 acres of private land. Inside, VillaHotel Natasha offers large living and dining areas with vaulted ceilings, roaring fireplaces, and panoramic windows, as well as a home theatre, billiard room, gourmet kitchen and wine cellar. There is also a heated indoor pool and elevator to all floors. VillaHotel Natasha sleeps 12. Pricing ranges from ,200 to ,700 per night, depending on season.

The historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel offers elegance and privacy to discriminating travelers and Hollywood’s entertainment royalty.

This 12-story, Spanish-style hotel has catered to the Hollywood elite and discerning travelers since its premiere in 1927. After renovations by famed designer Dodd Mitchell, this perennial hot spot boasts sleek mid-century modern style and a enviable guest list that has become a favorite haunt for entertainment business moguls.

The Roosevelt’s 302 rooms and suites boast classic comfort and high-end style. Dark, chocolate-hued wood is perfectly accented by creamy white upholstery and blown glass elements. Guests can luxuriate in crisp linens by Sferra, snack on delicacies by Dean and Deluca, and wind down after a night of partying with Fresh bath products. Business guests can take advantage of hotel-wide high-speed Wifi access, state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment and spacious banquet and conference rooms for meetings and events.

The Exquisite Hotel Lobby Area at The Roosevelt

Those who crave a little privacy will want to check out the newly renovated Gable & Lombard Penthouse. This three-story refuge from the everyday was named for Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, who rendezvoused there during their private affair. Today, this exclusive enclave features a 1,000 square foot private rooftop deck, arched windows that stretch from floor to ceiling, chairs by Mies Van der Rohe, and three plasma televisions.

Guests who wander outside their rooms are greeted by the David Hockney pool, ringed by elegant chaise lounges, private cabanas, and the ever-glamorous Tropicana Bar. Once night falls, everyone from of-the-moment starlets to Hollywood heavyweights descend upon this hot ticket–as do, supposedly, the ghosts of some of the Roosevelt’s most famous guests: Marilyn Monroe, Errol Flynn, and Montgomery Clift.

Foodies will want to drop by steakhouse-with-a-twist Dakota for roasted pineapple French toast or luscious cuts of prime beef. After dinner, those lucky enough to make it past the velvet ropes can enter Teddy’s, one of the hottest clubs in Hollywood.

The Roosevelt can host events for groups of 15 to 1,500. Besides the Gable & Lombard Penthouse or its fine restaurants and bars–which are available for rent–the Roosevelt houses the historic Blossom Room, which was the original location of The Oscars in 1929.

The hotel is situated just minutes from the Bob Hope and Los Angeles International airports. The Roosevelt is Hollywood’s last remaining historic hotel, and its central position on Hollywood Boulevard places it adjacent to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Paris is a city for lovers … lovers of romance, food, wine, fashion, and just about everything else. From luxury sweets to scavenging for vintage accessories, here are my picks for unmissable Parisian haunts that are guaranteed to have you hitting the town hard, day and night. Bon courage, Paris!

Sleep

While most of your time in Paris should be spent exploring all the wonders the city has to offer, there is nothing wrong with a little rest and relaxation as well. As accommodation goes, Paris has something for every price point and every aesthetic.

Hotel du Louvre

For those with money to burn, Hotel Plaza Athénée is a showcase of French luxury. Every amber-scented room has a spectacular view of the city. Regency meets Art Deco in an elegant fusion of style that has attracted film stars, politicians, and the fashion elite for decades. Alan Ducasse runs his three-star restaurant from the hotel. The restaurant also oversees all hotel catering, even room service. With its prime location moments from the Champs-Elysées, rooms with private terraces, and 18th-century decor, the Four Seasons Hotel, George V takes luxury up a notch. The super chic Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme boasts an enviable location a short walk from the Louvre and the Opera and it also boasts an equally enviable guest list, including Lady Gaga and Eva Longoria.

Dubbed the “Hotel of Kings” by those in the know, Le Meurice makes my list for its bar, its food, and its past guests, including Salvador Dali. Known for its mixed CDs and infamous after after parties in guest rooms, Hotel Costes is still riding high after nearly 10 years on top of many favourite hotel lists. No detail is too small for owner Jacques Garcia, a man who takes pride in excess, particularly when it comes to drinks, lounges, parties and the beautiful people attached to them.

Stunning views are not hard to come by at the Hotel du Louvre: all four sides face a Parisian landmark – the Louvre, the Opera Garnier, the Comédie Française, and the Place du Palais Royal. The traditional atmosphere of the guest rooms does not prevent the hotel from providing every contemporary comfort. With only 43 rooms, Hotel Therese is a calming place to rest your weary head. The rooms are elegant and come equipped with all the creature comforts you’d expect from a cosmopolitan hotel in the centre of things. Cheap, chic, and charmingly small, Hotel Le Petit Paris is the Latin Quarter’s little gem. During the reign of Louis XV, the hotel was a coaching inn, but in the 1970s even Jim Morrison couldn’t resist a stay. Its eighteenth-century facade conceals bold, themed interiors designed by Sybille de Margerie.

Shop

There’s always time for a little shopping, especially in Paris. From fashion to art, Paris is a shopper’s paradise.

Odds and Ends

Merci on Boulevard Beaumarchais

A seemingly endless supply of unique pieces, limited edition items, and rare publications cover the walls of Arty Dandy. Aimed at shining light on the “audacity, poetry, and humour” of objects, the shop carries an eclectic and surprisingly rare selection of fashion accessories, design pieces, and books. A collection of print material dating as far back as the 19th century is what makes Les Archives de la Presse unique. The print stock of magazines, journals, newspapers, and books is updated monthly. Additionally, a service to find rare print items is available through the shop.

Fashion

The undisputed shrine of cool, Colette has a perfectly curated collection of fashion pieces, style must-haves, and design artifacts. It’s simply impossible to match. The absolute dictator in the reign of retail, it is the prototype for the ultimate shopping experience. With Martin Mangiela and Ann Demeulemeester as part of the shop’s main collection, L’Eclaireur proves itself as a strong, avant-garde fashion den. The pieces are selected based on the shop’s theme, which lends cohesiveness to a very eclectic showroom. A Parisian must for every fashionista (and lover of random things), Le Marche Aux Puces is a deep ocean of merchandise treats. Often hit or miss, you can score anything from a rare, turn-of-the-century accessory to the odd, well-priced Givenchy vintage dress. Noir Kennedy is a hipster’s dream: cool, vintage, cheap, and located in le Marais. The meticulous selection features pieces from underdog designers as well as rare garments collected in London, New York, and other vintage capitals of the world.

Something More

Merci’s motto is simple: Give thanks by helping others. This shop’s exquisite collection goes from vintage to ultra-modern and from serial production to one-of-a-kind pieces. All profits fund charity work benefitting the children in Madagascar.

Dining

Chez Georges

Dining in Paris is not simply a matter of a meal, it’s an total body experience – the food, people, decor, location, and more. Every meal is a precious opportunity to try something quintessentially Parisian. Don’t squander a moment on something unworthy.

Lunch

Café de Flore is (still) the coolest lunch spot in town for a young, fashionable crowd. Café au laits and Christian Louboutins (the shoes and the man himself) converge in harmony at this Paris staple. Chez George is a classic favourite for its unpretentious, old-fashioned, bourgeois French cuisine, service, atmosphere, and décor. Snatch a coveted outside table at L’Avenuefor people watching and eclectic French fare.

Docked between vintage shops and Sonia Rykiel, Le Bouledogue is a local den that’s cheap, fast, and fun. Expect nothing but the best Parisian joie de vieon the terrace. It’s a prime spot for day-drinking festivities. With china designed by the head chef himself, Yannick Alleno, a chef’s table inside the kitchen, and a wine cellar that’s second to none, the restaurant at Le Meuriceis a dining experience throughout the year. With red velvet banquettes, smoky mirrors, stuck-up waiters, and one hell of a Dover sole, Le Voltaire is French from floor to ceiling to table. After gorging on rich, French cooking, Rose Bakery, an outpost of the London bakery, serves healthy, fresh, high quality British deli-food (and salads!). Skip lunch and stop by for high tea with a tart (the pastry).

Dinner

One of Francois Miterrand’s favourite spots, along with many intellectuals and artists, Brassiere Lipp breathes history from every inch of its original art deco walls. In short, as they put it themselves, it’s “chic, cheap, and hard to beat.” An Italian eatery and celebrity hotspot, Le Stresa offers a feast for the mouth and the eyes. Frequented by superstars like Naomi Campbell, Ines Sastre, and Sarah Jessica Parker, reserve a table days in advance to secure a seat! Freres Blanc’s Le Charlot serves the best-dressed lobster and other fruit de mer in la ville. Hungry French starlets often stay long after dark in the restaurant’s authentic art deco surroundings. Le Dome is a staple of Parisian haute cuisine. If there was ever a restaurant in which to blow your paycheque on a single dinner, this is it. Stay long enough on a Friday night and you’ll eventually find yourself dining next to regular guests Carla and Nicholas. A restaurant and jazz club from hotel/restaurant dream team Alex Denis (L’Avenue) and Jean-Louis Costes (Hotel Costes), La Société is the supper destination for the chic set.

For the younger crowd, Chez Janou is a raucous bistro with a clubhouse vibe. The scene might be anything but simple, but the food is simply homey, excellent, and decently priced. Hipster headbands optional, but a spoonful of chocolate mousse is required. French critics and Parisians alike adore food expert Julien Fouin’s traditional French bistro Glou. The bistro boasts reasonable prices, an incredible wine list, and celeb patrons like Marion Cotillard and John Galliano. Neighbor to both Le Baron and Chez Regine, Le Comptoir du Relais is prime real estate for the hungry party crowd, but it’s the bellinis and caviar that really bring them in. Le Fidélité is the nosh-spot for fashion’s avant-garde brat pack (think Olivier Zahm, Lou Dillon) but the vibe is down-to-earth. Try Regine and Andre’s favourite menu item: Tartare St. Jacques. Rosa Bonheur is a new favourite, but you’ve got to make it inside the Buttes Chaumont gates before closing time at 8pm. The inexpensive tapas feed hipsters and fashionistas alike in a relaxed setting.

Parisians rightfully treat every meal as something special, including the little meals in between.

One of the most famous cafes in the city, Angelina’s signature pastry is the Mont Blanc, a meringue base piled with chestnut purée and then filled with whipped cream. If possible, it is actually better than it sounds. Should your wallet and diet allow, we highly recommend doubles. Fauchon chocolates are a bedside table must and they’re as good as it gets … well unless you also take their kinky chocolate body paint in consideration. For conservative types, their teas, coffees, and infusions will hit the spot too.

There was a time when you had to make an appointment to be able to get your hands on one of Monsieur Genin’s éclairs; fortunately, the Alain Ducasse master of chocolate and all things sweet has opened a (work)shop, Jacques Genin, where all of his creations are readily available. We strongly suggest skipping lunch and just indulging in chocolate in all its Genin variations.

No Paris visit (or weekend, really) is complete without a stop at Ladurée. Order a cup of hot chocolate and try not to exceed the human limit of macaroon consumption while you’re at it. There is another macaroon option as well. Better known as the “King of French Pastry,” or the “French Willy Wonka,” Pierre Hermé’s tiny boutique on Rue Bonaparte has a queue around the block. The man made it his life’s work to perfect the macaroon and succeeded. If there was ever a time to line up for pastry, this is it. You can also order online.

As the apéritif du jour, Café de Flore’s evening crowd is trendy, famous, and rich. There’s no mistaking where these people come from and where they work (Paris, London, and Prada) and no doubt where they’re going either (Le Montana). A see-and-be-seen spot for the “it” crowd, this is the last stop before pulling an all-nighter at a neighbouring spotlight joint. Castel is the Quartier Latin spot de rigeur and though she once said that she wouldn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000, Linda Evangelista gets out of bed to shake there.

Known for its cocktails, multi-coloured goblets, and bizarre glasses in a Neo Art Deco atmosphere, the Metropolitan Cocktail Bar in the Metropolitan Hotel is a solid drinking den for the smart rock n’ roll set. A bar worth the door hassle is Le Mathis. Dubbed “le refuge chic” by insiders, if you can make it past the door, you’ll find yourself in one of the most exclusive addresses in town.

A Paris cocktail joint with a splash of masculinity is Hemingway Bar at The Ritz Hotel. With leather armchairs, single-malt Scotch, and Spanish tapas, it’s Hemingway’s greatest legacy … well, that and his writing. Conveniently located just steps from the Louvre, Le Fumoir attracts the kind of guy who loves a glass of scotch and a good cigar in hand. Stop by for a drink or a fast meal. Across the road from le Jardin de Tuileries, Le Meurice’s bar, 228, hosts the fashionable Parisians for after-work drinks. Think of it as the couture equivalent to your local British pub on a Thursday evening.

Not much has changed since Picasso once frequented La Palette. Why change a formula that works so well? Expect classic drinks with a whirlwind of heavy-hitters mixing with the Parisian locals. Every Friday night a sea of hipsters spills out on the streets outside La Perle. Featuring flamboyant fashion students and walking art manifestos in their late teens, this pre-gaming Le Marais haunt is heaven for the sartorial voyeur.

Paris is where beautiful people converge in one of Europe’s most beautiful settings. And when the sun sets and the lights go down, they hit the clubs. Here’s where to find them.

An off-centre option, Chez Moune is the nightlife epicentre of Pigalle. Themed parties are the name of Moune’s game, but be sure to study up on them before attending as they tend to be very specific and targeted to a particular demographic. A Studio 54 predecessor, Chez Regine has kept its owner, Régine Choukroun, partying since the 70s. Renovated and reopened only a couple of years ago, Chez Regine is operated by the collective behind Le Baron and Le Montana.

Andre’s pièce de la résistance is the toughest door in town, trumped only perhaps by that of its sister club, Le Montana. Le Baron’s tabletops have been graced with the moves of such names as Sofia Coppola and Bjork. On a good night, crowds of paparazzi wait patiently outside hoping to snap a shot of a late-night Lohan or Olsen debacle. Always booked solid for private soirees during Paris Fashion Week, Le Montana is the new joint for counter-cultural celebrities and the creative Parisian upper class. Models are the lowest common denominator in the boîte’s attendance hierarchy, which is headed by the likes of Olivier Zahm, Carine Roitfeld, and Terence Koh. Good DJs, monthly Friday night parties, and a host of other events have earned Maxim’squite the reputation with the party crowd.

Libertinism is alive and well at Cleopatre, a club for Paris’ well-heeled swingers. Upscale, elegant, and lushly decorated, it inspires sexual freedom—free from shame—with as many partners as time will allow. Paris’ famous, yet secret, swingers’ sanctuary, Les Chandelles, has a strict dress code (sexy, elegant, formal), a dungeon-like atmosphere, and a boudoir with bedroom furniture. Singles and experimental couples are encouraged to get down in public and explore sexual desires and fantasies.

Paradise Found is a place of learning. Betony Vernon hosts sexual self-being salons and provides luxury erotica designed to heighten sexual awareness and increase pleasure in those with refined tastes. As one of the most exclusive clubs in Paris, Paradise Found is for members and members only.As Paris’ oldest cabaret, the Lido boasts an ice rink, over 600 costumes, 23 sets, the famous “Bluebell Girls” in feathers and crystal headdresses, and even Lido “Boy” dancers. C’est magnifique! A modern and more x-rated alternative to the Lido, Crazy Horse is an unforgettable cabaret show, featuring colourful lights, fully nude female dancers, jugglers, and, yes, even mimes.

Erotica’s answer to the Louvre, Musée de l’érotisme boasts a vast and serious collection of erotic art and artifacts, including Nepalese temple carvings, Aztec fertility idols, ceramic pornography from China and oddities like a yak oil lamp from Tibet. With permanent exhibitions that take visitors from the sacred to the brothel, the museum makes studying sex almost as fun as having it.

Acknowledged as one of the premier hotel locations at 160 Central Park South between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in New York City and home to A-List celebrities like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Jude Law, and Samuel L. Jackson, Jumeirah Essex House was a welcome surprise – in more ways than one.

I chose Jumeirah Essex House as a weekend excursion after reading many great reviews of the property. With stately chandeliers, elevators of yesteryear, and Art Deco accoutrements the property is reminiscent of Carey Grant. I was impressed with the politeness and sheer efficiency of the staff, the cleanliness of the public space and rooms, and the ability to implement modern conveniences without losing stately appeal. The Bellmen – excellent and speedily hurried me off when needed. The Front Desk Staff – excellent and delivered a room exacting to my request. The Concierge – excellent and capable of rescheduling my Thursday dinner in Soho to my new choice in Times Square in minutes! I couldn’t have asked for more, anywhere.

However, if I must detract from this impressive property (and I must if I am to be honest), I noted a few things that simply surprised me. The shower spout, stainless steel in all its complex glory, was not grouted or sealed. Upon adjusting the spray of water it was nearly pulled through the wall. Another interesting discovery, the ceiling paint spanning the entire bathroom peeling from the ceiling at every apex. Simple corrections yes, but with such attention to detail elsewhere it is dismaying (and surprising) unsightly things like this remain? A level of forgiveness is of course due as this is a renovated icon dating back to 1931.

Large corridors and spacious visitor spaces. Inviting rooms with all that one could need: Wi-Fi, next generation telephones, etc affording ease of comfort and use. It also goes without saying the location is also ideal overlooking Central Park in the heart of Manhattan; elegance one would expect of this location. There is little wonder why Hollywood and so many others choose Jumeirah Essex House.

I recommend a visit to this renovated jewel and look forward to my next stay.

I must admit The London West Hollywood is the hotel I frequent most when in town. I never tire of arriving under and amidst the ivy in valet and the entry and foyer give an opulent feel.

The rooms are both stately and well appointed. With my numerous visits I have yet to express a need of fundamental product. Expect rooms with comfortable seating, gentle bedding and, for those of us that must be connected at all times, wireless that isn’t anemic. Room service is timely and polite, retrieval and cleanup fastidious.

Moreover, when staying with The London one MUST visit Gordon Ramsey. I have dined numerous times and it has never failed me. The attire is “smart casual” and the venue is a hidden, tucked away retreat of sorts. A favorite of mine is the Halibut, full of flavor and simple – with The London West Hollywood you can’t lose.
